THAIS, Inc. Welcome to California - New Immigrant Manual
THAIS, Inc. now has available a New Immigrant Manual in Thai and English to assist new arrivals to California.
Included in the manual are useful checklists of important things to do upon arrival, a map of important office
locations in Los Angeles such as the Royal Thai Consulate, Wat Thai Los Angeles, schools, markets and health services.
Also included in the manual is some important information about smoking in California.
California is a unique state, a model state. Many Californians are anxious to improve their environment, health
and safety. They're getting more politically involved. California citizens have written more bills than ever.
This is causing awareness towards the Thai community in California, in which they will know what kind of power they
have in our new political system.
Get Ready! This society has now spoken out and is no longer going to have any tolerance for the illicit cigarette smoker.
The people of California have declared and passed a law that now prohibits smoking in "enclosed" workplaces. This
law will protect people from smoking by enforcing employers to post "No Smoking" signs all over their establishments.
Be Aware! If you are a serious smoker, think about it. You cannot smoke in any bar, restaurant, or any
other public place in California. Now is the time to quit. There are many options and different associations
that are available to help any smoker. Smoking affects not only you. It affects everyone around you. Second-hand
smoke causes 65% of lunc cancer in all non-smokers living with a smoker. So think about the ones you love.
